Three Ways to Love Your Body
§ 01

The letter

Do you love yourself and your body? Do you accept all the little flaws and quirks, while at the same time supporting yourself in becoming the most wonderful, most authentic version of you?

We all carry an innate capacity to love truly. But as in every relationship, for love to grow it needs intention, attention and action. We have each been gifted a remarkable body — today is about finally loving it the way it deserves.

Exercise one — meet your body

Drop the layers. Take off your clothes and stand bare in front of a mirror — and let the mirror be bigger than a pocket one. Now look at your wonderful body. Appreciate everything it does for you each day. Recognise its own authentic beauty — with the wrinkles, scars, body hair and soft places all included.

When it comes to our bodies, gratitude isn't always the first thing that arises — often it's shame: not pretty enough, not strong enough, not young enough. Studies suggest 20–40% of women and 10–30% of men are dissatisfied with how they look. You are not alone.

Exercise two — break the silence

Let's get loud. Break the isolating silence and speak openly about your worries around your body. Talk to a friend — you'll see that you are not the only one. We are in there together.

“It is not the perfect but the imperfect that has need of our love.”

Exercise three — listen in

Body check. How does your body feel right now? Is there tension somewhere? What is it signalling? Does it need a gentle stretch, a movement, a sip of water?

Love begins with attention and listening — and it grows through deliberate, loving action. How will you show your body today that you love it?
