The island

Procida

Procida is a small, jewel-like island in the Gulf of Naples. With its tiny fishing harbours, pastel houses, beaches and family trattorias, it offers everything you need to surrender to the dolce far niente — the sweet art of doing nothing.

Easily reached by ferry from Naples.

In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed.

A breathtaking setting

The retreat is hosted at Centro SaMa, a beautifully restored former Benedictine monastery set on a small hill above the sea, with sweeping views all the way to Capri — a quiet oasis of pine and olive trees.

At this still place, time slows down. And when you crave a little life, the beach and small fishing harbour are less than a 10-minute walk away.

The house

The old monastery is sensitively renovated and beautifully appointed. Whether on one of its many terraces under the open sky or in the sun-flooded yoga hall, the place is made for resting and savouring.

Guest rooms are lovingly furnished with private bathrooms — singles, doubles and quad rooms; there is a configuration for everyone.

Yoga & meditation

Each morning and evening we share about ninety minutes of yoga and meditation.

Through meditation you allow the mind to settle into the present. Yoga helps you to inhabit the body, listen to it, and strengthen it. The focus is not on perfection — it is on coming gently into contact with yourself, cultivating kindness, and weaving lightness into everyday life.

Long, quiet afternoons

The middle of the day is yours. Rest on the property, sunbathe at the beach ten minutes away, drift through the small harbour, or take a walk across the island. There is something here for every mood.

Self-love

Coming home to yourself

Every day brings a small mindful impulse to support you in getting to know yourself, and in living your life with lightness and abundance.

With journaling questions you can go deeper, explore your own patterns and make space for new ways forward — learning to be a good friend to yourself.

To love ourselves is to know ourselves, to accept ourselves and to care for ourselves with kindness.

Savour with all your senses

You will be cared for with delicious vegetarian cuisine made from local produce. Our chef Philipp Katz cooks fresh, place-rooted dishes for us — a generous breakfast on the wide terrace, an evening aperitivo, and a long, shared dinner.

Beyond the food, you take in the beauty of the estate — olive trees, pines, hidden niches and the sea on the horizon.

The boat trip

As a special highlight, we go out together by boat. Rocking on the gentle swell, sunning on deck, and a plunge into the sea — what could be better?

Good to know

Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for anyone longing to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and embrace a few days of rest, movement, and meaningful connection. Whether you're new to yoga or have years of experience, you're warmly welcome just as you are.
Do I need any previous experience?
Not at all. No previous experience in yoga or meditation is required. Every practice is beginner-friendly and offered with kindness, allowing you to participate at your own pace.
What can I expect during the retreat?
Together we'll explore yoga, guided meditation, mindfulness, gentle coaching exercises, and inspiring neuroscience insights — all designed to help you reconnect with yourself. There will also be plenty of time to swim in the sea, explore Procida, enjoy delicious Italian food, rest, and simply savour la dolce vita.
Where will we stay?
Our retreat takes place at the beautiful SaMa Center, a lovingly restored Benedictine monastery overlooking the sea. Surrounded by pine and olive trees, it offers peaceful terraces, a light-filled yoga hall, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, and breathtaking views stretching all the way to Capri.
Why Procida?
Procida is one of Italy's hidden gems. With colourful fishing harbours, crystal-clear water, authentic restaurants, and a slower rhythm of life, it's the perfect place to unwind and experience the true meaning of dolce far niente — the sweet art of doing nothing.
What's the weather like?
Late September is one of the most beautiful times to visit Procida. The summer crowds have disappeared, the sea is still wonderfully warm, and daytime temperatures usually reach around 27°C (81°F), making it perfect for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying outdoor yoga.
How do I get there?
Simply book your flight directly to Naples International Airport (NAP) or one of Rome's Airports (FCO, CIA) and travel to Naples by train. From there, it's an easy taxi ride to the ferry terminal, followed by a scenic ferry crossing to Procida. I'll be happy to help you plan your journey if you have any questions.
What should I bring?
Pack comfortable clothing for yoga and meditation, swimwear, light summer clothes, comfortable walking shoes, and a light sweater for the evenings. Yoga mats are provided — you only need to bring yourself.
I'm travelling alone. Will I fit in?
Absolutely. Most participants come on their own, and that's one of the beautiful things about retreats. Friendships often begin with a simple conversation over breakfast or while watching the sunset together.
Do I have to join every activity?
Not at all. This retreat is an invitation, not an obligation. If you feel like sleeping in, spending an afternoon by the sea, or simply reading a book on one of the terraces, that's perfectly okay. Listen to your body — it knows what you need.
Is this retreat only for "spiritual" people?
Not at all. Some people join because they're curious about yoga or meditation, others because they're feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a break. You don't have to be spiritual — just open to slowing down and giving yourself a little space to breathe.
What makes this retreat unique?
As a neuroscientist, psychologist, mindfulness teacher, and yoga instructor, I combine scientific insights with practical experiences that you can integrate into everyday life. My intention is not only to help you relax during these days together, but to inspire lasting habits that support greater wellbeing, self-compassion, and joy long after the retreat has ended.
